Race City: Detroit, Michigan
Katrina's Story:
Katrina Studvent was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2006, just after celebrating her 30th birthday. After her diagnosis she knew she wanted to make an impact in the lives of others through education about the importance of early detection. With the support of her husband and her three year-old daughter, Alyssa, she has become a strong advocate for Komen for the Cure and the mission to end breast cancer. Katrina never hesitates to share her personal story to help educate the public and has spoken at several events on behalf of Komen's Detroit Race.
This year Katrina has joined the Race Planning Committee as the Route Neighbors Co-Chair, providing the businesses along the race route with information about the event. Katrina works for The Art Institute of Michigan and has involved her coworkers as well by initiating a team and encouraging colleagues to volunteer on race day.
