Cheryl's Story:
Cheryl Murray started the Madison, WI Bosom Buddies Breast Cancer Support Group in August 1987 with only four women. Over the past 20 years, Cheryl has been in touch with over 600 women diagnosed with breast cancer in the Madison area. She currently has 20 to 30 women attending monthly meetings and has an email listing of over 100 survivors. Cheryl also provides a network of volunteers for those women who do not feel comfortable attending support groups or who need immediate assistance. She has given various talks to women's clubs, UW classes, and several breast cancer symposiums. Cheryl has volunteered with BCRF and the Madison Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® since the first race 11 years ago and has served as Race Chair in 2006 and 2007. She has also served as a co-survivor by accompanying women to their doctor's appointments, chemo and radiation treatments and just talking to them when the need a shoulder.
