Kyle's unbelievable, record-breaking performance in the 2008 Hardrock Endurance Run will go down in history as the first ever sub-24 hour time. Kyle set a blistering pace over the 100-mile course, which loops from Silverton, Colorado through the San Juan Mountains, in the custom 790's that he helped develop.

The Hardrock Endurance Run is a grueling 100-mile ultra-marathon that pits participants against distance, elevation and extremely rugged terrain. With an average elevation around 11,000, a total of 33,000 feet to climb and 13 peaks over 12,000-feet to cross, finishing is a feat in itself. In fact, this year, of the 141 starters, just 98 made it to the finish.

But despite extreme challenges, Kyle was able to stay focused and muster the strength and courage needed to deliver his record-breaking performance. "I wasn't concerned with splits or time goals," Kyle said. "I went out at a fast but maintainable pace and just held on. I based my pace on how I felt, not determined to hit an exact time goal."

Congratulations to Kyle on his historic run.

What does it mean to you being a member on the NB Outdoor Ambassador Program?

Why do you do what you do? What's your motivation?
Mountain running is one of the keys to my happiness.  I feel most alive when running at my physical limit high above treeline in spectacular terrain.  While I train in preparation for racing against strong competition, the daily pull of a mountain summit or alpine lake provides even more motivation.
Any advice for others in your sport?
The key to success in trail running is to Have Fun!  The pure joy achieved through running in the mountains, canyons, and forests is the greatest measure of accomplishment.
